    DEPARTMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

    Pursuant to California Community Redevelopment Law (Health and Safety Code §33000, et seq.) the Agency is able to use special legal and financial mechanisms to accomplish its tasks.  Although the Agency is a separate, legal entity, the City Council serves as the legislative body of the Agency.  The specific responsibilities of the Economic/Redevelopment Department include:

    • Overseeing property for sale or lease
    • Aiding those starting a Business
    • Providing updates on current projects
    • Making available a list of Oakley economic incentives
    • Managing downtown revitalization
    • Gathering and making available Oakley demographics, gross statistics and economic information
    • Facilitating capacity for Affordable Housing opportunities
    • Eliminating blight and improving economic and physical conditions
    • Providing focused attention and financial investment to the Redevelopment Project Area to reverse deterioration, create jobs and revitalize business climate
    • Business recruitment and retention
    • Coordinating the budget and reporting requirements for the Redevelopment Agency

    The Economic/Redevelopment Department is an important asset to business, whether they are planning to relocate, expand, or are just starting out.

    DID YOU KNOW?

    The Economic/Redevelopment Department recently entitled the River Oaks Crossing Project which will bring 76.4 acres of commercial space into Oakley for new business.

    GOAL

    To facilitate the revitalization of Historic Downtown Oakley through the creation of a New Downtown Specific Plan as well as bring new and interesting businesses to Oakley through recruitment.
