  • Junior Recreation Leader Program

Come be the future of Recreation!

The Junior Recreation Leader Program is designed to give students, ages 13 - 16, a chance to gain first hand experience in the recreation field, which can prepare them for a variety of jobs in several fields.

Jr. Recs are assigned to a Recreation Leader to help with various tasks related to a project such as Summer Blaze Day Camp and Cityhood Celebration.  They shadow a Recreation Leader, learning skills along the way, and help to provide valuable assistance to the program coordinator.  Jr. Recs often work with small children and should realize that there is an extreme responsibility in providing a safe, fun, healthy, and clean environment for the participants of the programs.

Jr. Recreation Leaders will be able to place this title and job experience on their resumes and the City of Oakley can be listed as a reference.  Though there is no guarentee of a job offer, exceptional Jr. Recreation Leaders may even be recruited for future employment with the City of Oakley, or with various other Recreational Organizations.

For questions or to register for this program, contact the Lindsey in the Recreation Department at 925.625.7042 or e-mail bruno@ci.oakley.ca.us!
