    THE CITY OF OAKLEY

    The City of Oakley was incorporated in July 1999 for better growth management and is now hard at work realizing its vision.

     

    LOCATION

    Oakley is situated in Eastern Contra Costa County in a growth corridor hallway between San Francisco and Sacramento, California. The San Joaquin Delta lies on the northern edge of town.

     

    EDUCATION

    Oakley's public schools have curricula that is creative and responsive to needs. Small class sizes, clearly focused academic goals, and strategies for engaging students and initializing a love of learning are linked to their success.

     

    CITY GOVERNMENT

    The City's Council/Manager form of government balances the policy setting functions of the City Council and the managerial expertise of an appointed City Manager. Numerous commissions, committees and task forces operate in concert with the Council to address issues identified by staff and the community.

     

    COMMUNITY GROWTH

    Home to 2% of Contra Costa County, Oakley is a fast growing city, attractive to families young and old who wish to live close to large urban area while having easy access to recreational opportunities. The current population of 33,250 is expected to expand to 68,000 within the next 20 years.
