Paul Abelson joined the City Staff in September of 2005, after having spent 16 years working with Contra Costa County. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics, majoring in Accounting, from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Paul is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) with more than 20 years of experience in goverment finance.
The Finance Department is responsible for performing the following functions in accordance with City policies:
The Finance Department provides support services citywide with the goal of intelligent and prudent financial management.
The City posts a wealth of financial information online, including: CAFR's, Budgets, Long Term Financial Plans, Financial Policies, Investment Reports, Official Statements, and Business License Applications. Such information may be found on the Financial Documents page.
